Teachers Union Prez: Trump Fueling Schoolyard Bullies with Hate

But it's totally behind Clinton who has called Trump supporters names.

The president of the nation’s largest labor union, the National Education Association, is horrified by the current election. Not by Hillary Clinton’s various corruption scandals and concerning health issues, but by the big, bad bully Donald Trump who has some strong feelings about illegal immigrants and those Muslims who aim to do our country harm.

Before becoming president of the NEA, Lily Eskelsen García was a sixth-grade teacher in Utah, according to The Huffington Post. She would often use presidential elections as civic lessons in her classroom. But not this year, she said: “I’m not so sure I’d really want my kids to watch this debate. It’s really kind of disturbing what they’re hearing out there.”

García believes Trump is emboldening schoolyard bullies by filling children with hate:

“There is bullying going on, and [there are] children who feel that they are given permission to repeat some of the things they’re hearing out of Donald Trump’s mouth.”

Unsurprisingly, the NEA has officially endorsed Hillary Clinton and has contributed at least $1 million to a Clinton-affiliated super PAC with plans to run ads portraying Trump as a bully.

As HuffPo reports, García points to an incident in Indiana where students held up a picture of Trump and shouted: “build a wall” at the opposing team from a “largely Latino school” as proof of her concern. Then the liberal outlet brought in the big guns from the Southern Poverty Law Center which claims to have noticed “an uptick in school bullying stemming from the presidential campaign:”

Among the SPLC’s findings: “Teachers report that students have been ‘emboldened’ to use slurs, engage in name-calling and make inflammatory statements toward each other.” Also, “Kids use the names of candidates as pejoratives to taunt each other.”

Sure, that’s NEVER happened in America until this election.

Another NEA member is also quoted saying the contentious political climate has made its way into her eighth-grade social studies class, too. She teaches a 14-year-old daughter of Peruvian immigrants who made a “startling statement” in class that “broke [her] heart.” The girl told her classmates she would be “sent back to Peru” if Trump wins. The teacher said, “My student told her class that her parents said it will not be safe to continue to live in the United States if Donald Trump becomes president.” It is noted that the “child had gotten that impression” from her parents’ discussions at home about the election.

The teacher has voted Republican in the past but has committed to voting for Clinton this time around.

And in typical fashion over at HuffPo, the article, like others regarding Trump, ends with this editor’s note:

Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
