Once again, Saturday Night Live proved that it’s okay to mock a woman as long as she is conservative. And once again, White House advisor Kellyanne Conway was the target. This time, she was the horrifying clown Pennywise from Stephen King’s It.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper, played by cast member Alex Moffat, discovers a deranged Conway in clown makeup, played by Kate McKinnon, lurking in the sewer and the sketch “Kellywise” was born.
Cooper notices the strange face paint Conway is sporting: “What did you do with your makeup?”
“I toned it down,” Kellywise says, mocking Ms. Conway’s looks which breaks all the rules of Feminism 101.
Cooper is looking to fill a slot on his upcoming program and Kellywise is begging to be put on air:
“I’ll give you a crazy, crazy quote. How about this: ‘Okay, so, Puerto Rico actually was worse before Hurricane Maria and the hurricane actually did blow some buildings back together and I don’t know why Elizabeth Warren won’t tweet about that.’”
Cooper insulted her intelligence, calling her “insane,” another thing you’re not supposed to do, according to feminism.
Kellywise then threatens Cooper to put her on TV or she will show him his greatest fear. When he refuses, she holds up a New York Times front page from the future: “Trump Re-Elected for Second Term.” And another stating, “Anderson Cooper Fat Now.” He is repulsed by both.
McKinnon reprised her uncanny Hillary Clinton from underneath the streets, but it was just a trick for Cooper to be lured into the sewers only to be bitten by a fanged-tooth Kellywise.
So, instead of heralding a woman for holding a top position in the White House, SNL degrades Conway as a clown. For the writers and cast, Conway has always been their favorite "monster." Anybody else notice how they never did this to Michelle Obama?
