Satan Scenes Cut from ‘Son of God’ to Avoid Another Obama Controversy

"It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor."

"The Bible"'s Satan and Obama side by side

The producers of the new film Son of God have decided to avoid any chance of more political controversy by eliminating all scenes featuring Satan played by an actor who bears an eerie resemblance to President Obama.

Despite Satan’s pivotal role in the temptation of Christ in the New Testament, as The Hollywood Reporter reports, co-producer Roma Downey proudly announced, “It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor. This is now a movie about Jesus, the son of God, and the devil gets no more screen time.”

The film is a condensed version of the highly popular 10-hour mini-series The Bible, which caused a stir when bloggers noted the remarkable resemblance of actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, who played Satan, and Obama. The producers explained that they did not want another such controversy surrounding the feature film version.

Son of God opens nationwide Feb. 28th.
