Ryan Says He Won't Be GOP Nom

“I saw Boehner last night and I told him to knock it off.”

Former House Speaker John Boehner may think  current Speaker Paul Ryan should step in as the Republican nominee but the Washington Post reports that Ryan says you can count him out.

“It’s not going to be me, it should be somebody running for president,” the Wisconsin Republican said at his weekly news conference. He told reporters that he cursed out former House Speaker John A. Boehner at an event Wednesday night in Washington, following Boehner’s comments at a Florida speech that morning in which he suggested that Ryan would be the right candidate if the convention deadlocks.

“I saw Boehner last night and I told him to knock it off,” Ryan said.

Ryan will actually serve as co-chairman of the Republican National Convention when it is held in Cleveland come July. The longtime congressman says he didn't know that he would be co-chairman when he took over the role of speaker last fall.

According to Ryan, his goal is to be a neutral as possible and simply enforce the rules.
