Rep. Keith Ellison Lets Truth Slip: Pelosi Wants Single-Payer Healthcare

Like we didn't know!

Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Keith Ellison let the inconvenient truth slip at a party meeting in Minnesota last Wednesday that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is all about some single-payer healthcare.

The Daily Caller received exclusive video footage of the meeting which contradicts everything Pelosi sells to her constituents and the country that Democrats aren’t going for socialized medicine. Even Ellison feared revealing too much as he asked, “Is anybody taping me right now?”

Why, yes! Yes, they were. Here’s what he said:

“I believe in — I’m signed onto H.R. 676 which is a single-payer health care act. They call it Medicare for all. Yeah, universal health care. Real single-payer health care. I’m on that. But let me tell you this — Is anybody taping me right now? Okay, so, you may have heard that Nancy’s not for it, but that’s not really true. Nancy has to represent a very diverse caucus. And she does not like getting out ahead of the caucus too fast. So, she’s trying to get, she’s, you know, you know, she actually likes the concept. She says it’s the best way to do it. She says it’s the cheapest way to do it, but she’s got to make sure that she brings our Blue Dog friends along. And by the way, for any of us progressives who get mad at the Blue Dogs, if we didn’t have them, some of them would be replaced by Republicans.”

Pelosi delivered a stern “no” earlier this summer to the question if the Democrats were going to make single-payer health care a central theme to the party’s 2018 campaign. She also stated that though she likes the idea of it, she doesn’t think it’s a good political option. However, Ellis made it clear she loves it.

Oh, it’s coming. You can bet on that.
