MSNBC's Joy Reid Has Lovefest Interview With Planned Parenthood Prez

“These airwaves are your airwaves.”

On Sunday's AM Joy, MSNBC host Joy Reid turned an interview with Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards into a blatant PP lovefest, even assuring Richards that anytime she wanted to return to the show, “these airwaves are your airwaves.”

Newsbusters reports that Reid began by expressing concern over House Speaker Paul Ryan's recent announcement that an upcoming bill to repeal ObamaCare would include legislation to defund Planned Parenthood. Reid gushed about PP and fear-mongered about the possibility that it wouldn't receive government assistance:

“I think we need to be in fight-mode as women, the idea that Planned Parenthood, Cecile, the place where, when I graduated from college and had no money and was broke and had a low-paying job, got all my health care. Not abortion care, health care. It – it literally will be defunded just like that. What can Americans do about it?”

Well, they can obtain health care through their doctor or in any one of the thousands of other women's health care centers around the country, or they can continue going to PP, which isn't going to collapse without taxpayer funds because it can still receive private donations.

A second guest, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health Executive Director Jessica González-Rojas, asserted that “A fight against Planned Parenthood is a fight against our communities.” Both Reid and Richards responded, "Absolutely.”

Newsbusters observed that Reid used the word "we" when referring to PP: “Are we at risk now, is Planned Parenthood at risk,” she continued, “of red-state Democrats throwing Planned Parenthood under the bus?”

Reid went on to suggest that without PP, women will fall prey to the Zika virus. “If you're an indigent woman, if you’re a woman who’s on Medicaid, if there is no Planned Parenthood, what is the option?” Reid worried.

As the interview continued, Reid took every opportunity to defend PP. “And can you guys just reiterate," she prompted, "this is not about women seeking abortions. This is actually about healthcare, right?”

But of course it is about abortions, and Reid conceded that if Planned Parenthood loses government funding, it will result in more "women seeking abortions and then the number of women who will die trying to seek them illegally,” she said. “It is frightening. It’s frightening.”

Reid wrapped up the segment by inviting Richards back and saying, “these airwaves are your airwaves... We need to keep this in front of mind for women. This is an emergency.”

But remember, there's no liberal media bias.
