Chris Matthews was joined by Dana Milbank, The Washington Post, and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) discussed issues on the Hill. Toward the end of the segment Matthews shifted the conversation from healthcare, government benefits and the budget deal to 2016 Democratic candidates. He point blank asked Brown if he would consider being Hillary Clinton's running mate. Matthews gushed,
Sherrod Brown, member of the Senate, Yale graduate, smart guy, friend of labor I think you'd be a great running mate for Hillary Clinton what do you think?
When Sen. Brown responded he wasn't interested and that it wasn't even a thought in his mind, Matthews laughed heartily then responded,
Now it's in my mind! Because I'm looking for a good solid ticket there and I think Hillary needs, uh, she doesn't need anybody really but I think you'd be a perfect perfect pair.
Matthews then said "Merry Christmas" and corrected himself for the more politically correct version and said, "Happy Holidays, I should say!" Chris Matthews, who got a thrill up his leg for Obama is now for Hillary 2016!
