Joe Scarborough Portrays President Trump as Sociopath

“The basic lack of humanity.”

On Wednesday’s edition of Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and his guests chose a peculiar way of covering President Trump’s visit to Puerto Rico amid the Caribbean island’s hurricane crisis: they portrayed the President as a sociopath.

Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski began with a clip from Trump’s meeting with Puerto Rican officials:

TRUMP: If you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina and you look at the tremendous hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people that died…what is your death count as of this moment, seventeen?

GOV. RICARDO ROSSELLO: Sixteen, certified.

TRUMP: Sixteen people certified. Sixteen people versus in the thousands, you can be very proud.

Scaraborough stopped the tape. “That is beyond inappropriate,” he said. Brzezinski affirmed, “President Trump visits Puerto Rico and compares the disaster there to the quote ‘real’ catastrophe of hurricane Katrina.”

What the show didn’t reveal was the context of President Trump’s words, fully displayed here:

TRUMP:  We’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico, and that's fine. We’ve saved a lot of lives. If you look at the…every death is a horror, but if you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina and you look at the tremendous, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people that died, and you look at what happened here with really a storm that was just totally overpowering, nobody's ever seen anything like this. And what is your death count as of this moment, seventeen?

GOV. RICARDO ROSSELLO:  Sixteen, certified.

TRUMP:  Sixteen people certified. Sixteen people versus in the thousands. You can be very proud of all of your people, all of our people, working together. Sixteen versus literally thousands of people. You can be very proud. Everybody around this table and everybody watching can really be very proud of what’s taken place in Puerto Rico.

Despite the fact that the President spent much of the conference praising the military and other government agencies for their work in helping Puerto Rico to recover, Scarborough’s show was completely devoid of that impression.

“I have never seen anything like that before,” Joe continued.  “It is a grim, exceedingly grim situation being faced by many residents of that island and Donald Trump goes in and goes, ’You’re lucky you’re not facing a real catastrophe.’…The basic lack of humanity, and the growing concern that’s always been there, that this man is disconnected from reality…the  way one human being speaks to another human being. Added Brzezinski, “This particular quality of empathy that he lacks…He does things that are cruel.”

President Trump met Puerto Rico with a gracious message of charity and compassion, yet Scarborough and company played select words and condemned the President’s goodwill. It’s sad that even during humanitarian aid to a desperate, hurting territory, the Left will seize every opportunity to misrepresent our Commander-in-Chief. They’ll never relent, because even in times of tragedy, their agenda is more important than the truth.
