Mister Tally Man is putting his socialist heft behind Bernie Sanders. Harry Belafonte, the singer, actor and socialist activist, has endorsed Sanders in a video posted to the candidate's YouTube channel.
Belafonte called Sanders "a moral imperative' and went on to say that he offered a "certain kind of truth that’s not often evidenced in the course of politics." Maybe Sanders is a truth not often evidenced because admitted socialists don't often run for president.
In his video Belafonte said that Sanders offered "young people - all people a choice to turn this ship of state called America around and place it on a new course."
Long known for his far-left views, Belafonte has also been active on the issues of race and civil rights. During the administration of George W. Bush the singer and actor referred to Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice as house slaves for their decision to serve in the Republican administration.
The Belafonte endorsement comes as the Congressional Black Caucus came out with an endorsement of Hillary Clinton, saying they do not recall Sanders being involved in the civil rights movement.
