A teenage girl in Denmark says she was attacked Wednesday night by a "dark-skinned" English-speaking man. She claims he knocked her to the ground, unbuttoned her pants and tried to undress her totally.
The Local DK reports that the 17-year-old girl was able to thwart her attacker using pepper spray, but now she is the one facing legal trouble as it's "illegal to possess and use pepper spray" in Denmark.
"So she will likely be charged for that," police spokesman Knud Kirsten told TV Syd.
The Local reports that the case is receiving harsh backlash, particularly as besieged Danes are trying to find ways of defending themselves as criminal activity among refugees has skyrocketed:
The case has sparked a backlash among some Danes who point to increasing reports of sexual harassment in Sønderborg and other Danish cities at the same time that police say they are stretched too thin to properly carry out their duties.
Numerous readers wrote in the comments section on TV Syd’s story about the incident that they would be willing to pay the girl’s fine, which will most likely be 500 kroner.
The man who attacked the 17-year-old fled from the scene and has not been charged.
Sexual assaults have been in the news in Sønderborg recently after several women in the town reported earlier this month that they sometimes feel harassed by the aggressive behaviour of some male asylum seekers and refugees at the local asylum centre.
Reports have not yet indicated whether the attacker is also an asylum seeker, but given that Danish media errs on the PC-side and often refrains from identifying criminals when they are found to be Muslim, it is highly likely.
In response, the city of Sønderborg is joining with its German counterparts, banning guests from entering unless they speak Danish, English or German. Nightclubs in the Danish town are also reportedly considering doing the same.
One wonders, however, what difference the language makes as a refugee can learn enough German, Danish or English to "get by," gain entry and then commit crimes. It seems it would be more efficient if law enforcement and government officials were simply to crack down on the criminal elements within said refugee communities and stop being controlled by political correctness.
