Just in time for the Olympics, Chevrolet unleashed its new ad campaign called "The New." Some of the ads feature gay and lesbian couples getting married or with their families. The voice over on the latter says,
They are the ones that we trust with our most secret secrets -- who are always there when we need them -- they are family. And while what it means to be a family hasn't changed, what a family looks like has. This is the new us. Chevrolet Traverse -- with the highest possible overall vehicle score for safety for whatever shape your family takes.
These ads follow hot on the heels of the Super Bowl commercial for Coca-Cola that featured "America the Beautiful" sung in a mixture of English and foreign languages. The ad also featured a gay couple and their children.
