Carney Calls Freedom a 'Buzzword'

"It’s not anything but an added choice that they have that allows them more freedom, to use a certain buzzword, more choice.”

Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, White House press secretary Jay Carney, speaking about Obamacare, called freedom a “buzzword.”

Talking about Obamacare’s effect of lowering working hours by incentivizing Americans not to work as much in order to secure healthcare, Carney said, “it’s not anything but an added choice that they have that allows them more freedom, to use a certain buzzword, more choice.”

During the same session with the press, President Obama’s chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, Jason Furman, said that American workers choosing to work less was a net positive, just like 95-year-olds not having to work thanks to Social Security.
