Blues Legend B.B. King Dead At Age 89

'King of the Blues' died in Las Vegas, according to his attorney.

News broke on social media late Thursday night (PDT) that legendary musician B.B. King has passed away in Las Vegas, according to his attorney.

King had been in the hospital recently and then went into hospice care. A diabetes-sufferer for over 20 years, King had suffered dehydration and complications from the disease resulting in the increased care.

In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked King number six on their list of the top 100 guitarists of all time. Known as "The King of the Blues", he has won 15 Grammy Awards - more than any other blues artist - and received the lifetime achievement award in 1987. King is a member of both the Blues Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and there are B.B. King's Blues Clubs on Beale Street in Memphis, in Times Square in New York City, and several other locations around the country.

B.B. King will no doubt be remembered as one of the most influential and legendary musicians and guitarists ever to step on the stage. He will be missed.
