’12 Years a Slave’ Awarded Best Film by British Academy of Film & TV Arts

Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave (2013), about the struggles of a free black man who is sold into slavery, continues to rack up the accolades, this time winning over the Brits at the BAFTA awards, taking home the top prize, best film, and lead Chiwetel Ejiofor earning best leading actor.

12 Years has been in a tight awards battle with Gravity (2013), tying it for best film at the PGA Awards and Gravity taking home top prize from the DGA.

12 Years was nominated for 9 Oscars and has already scored over 100 honors in film awards competitions. The film was produced by Regency and distributed by Fox Searchlight and 20th Century Fox.
